I think we can all agree that Gracie, 9-month-old pup belonging to Betsy Olson of Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia is one “stinkin’ cute” little girl. According to her human mom, Gracie is a Goldendoodle who loves to play. Because she is part retriever, her game of choice is fetch the ball. She is a “standard” Doodle which means she will weigh anywhere from 60 to 100 pounds as an adult.
Interesting fact about Goldendoodles: The breed has only been around since the 1990s when breeders in both North America and Australia began crossing golden retrievers with standard poodles. The goal was to develop a guide dog suitable for visually impaired individuals with allergies. Goldendoodles are often referred to as designer dogs. This name stems from breeder’s attempts to mix breeds in order to obtain a dog with desirable characteristics – in this case, one that sheds less than typical dogs. Although the Goldendoodle is becoming increasingly popular in the United States, breed associations do not recognize this hybrid or any other designer cross.
That matters not to Gracie’s family. “She’s enriched our home life like we never would have believed,” said Betsy. “She has the most adorable head tilt when you talk to her.” Like most Goldendoodles, Gracie is extremely friendly and patient with children.
For being named our Pet of the Month, Gracie has won a goody basket from Pooch N Paws Pet Boutique with more than $40 in treats and toys hand selected just for her.
