So this is a first. Our March Pet of the Month is a Bearded Dragon belonging to Shannon Hughson of National Allergy. Timmi is 1-and-a-half years old and loves to cuddle. Bearded Dragons are funny little creatures with their own style of communicating, and they can live 10 to 12 years with proper care.
Timmi loves being able to run around freely in the Hughson house. Bearded Dragons were first introduced in the U.S. as pets in the 1990s. They can reach up to 16 to 24 inches from head to the tip of tail. These lizards got their name from the spiny scales found on their throats which can turn black when threatened or stressed. They also have some peculiar behaviors such as head bobbing and arm waving to show either dominance or submission when meeting another Bearded Dragon. It’s pretty entertaining to watch.
