This month’s precious pooch is Layla, a 5-year-old Shinese (that’s not a typo) belonging to Kathy Nichols of The Palmer Agency. Layla is a Pekingese and Shih Tzu hybrid and loves to accompany Kathy to work. Cuddling is her favorite — especially with her stuffed bunny and other toys. In fact, this sweet baby likes to suck on the end of her toys’ noses and paw at them like she’s nursing. Or cuddling.
Shinese dogs originated in Tibet in the 1600s where they were considered a holy animal. It is accepted as one of the oldest dog breeds on record. Layla has a black tip on her tail which was the choice of the Chinese emperors. Despite their small stature, Shinese make very good watchdogs.
