Hold on to your joysticks!
Atari’s CEO Fred Chesnais has announced the company is getting back into the hardware business with the release of a new console. The company has not released much information about the new system other than it will be called the Ataribox and will run on PC technology. A teaser video on Ataribox.com suggests that the new console will incorporate a woodgrain panel like its iconic predecessor, the Atari 2600, which was released in 1977.
It’s often said that “what’s old is new again” and gamers of a certain age can rejoice knowing the beloved games of their youth such as Pong, Space Invaders or Pac-Man quite possibly will be available for the Ataribox. You can sign up to receive more information at Ataribox.com.
