5 Zoom Cybersecurity Tips

Over the past year, Zoom has replaced in-person communication for many individuals, businesses, universities and organizations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it is extremely important to be aware of the cybersecurity threats that Zoom can pose and how to best protect yourself from those threats. Here are 5  Zoom cybersecurity tips to keep in mind.

1. Keep Zoom Updated: Like any piece of technology, it is important to constantly be updating Zoom. Zoom regularly releases different updates of the application to fix bugs.

2. Protect Your Meetings with a Password: You have the option to encrypt your meetings with a password. In order to keep hackers out of your meetings make sure you create a password for each Zoom meeting you schedule.

3. Disable “Join Before Host”: To maintain protection, make sure you keep this feature disabled. This way the host will always be able to control who is joining the meeting.

4. Be Careful Where You Post the Password: Make sure you share your Zoom meeting passwords in a safe place. Don’t publicly display passwords online, or else it defeats the purpose of protecting your conference with a password.

5. Lock the Meeting: Last but not least, be sure to lock the meeting after it has started to ensure that no unwanted guests join the call.
