Get to Know Scot Coleman, Help Desk Engineer

This Baltimore, Md., native joined the MIS help desk team in February 2017 and has been a huge factor in MIS’s high customer satisfaction surveys. One client said of Scot:

Scot is not only thorough, fast and conscientious, but is clearly committed to doing the best job possible for the customer, always going that little extra step in the form of personal follow-up and great communication of findings, actions taken, and probable next steps should the issue present itself again.

Tell us about your family

Wendy and I have been married going on  24 years. She is the love of my life — best thing that ever happened to me. Our oldest daughter Rachel is finishing her freshman year at the University of West Georgia where she plays in the marching band, concert band and woodwind ensemble. She’s majoring in music and plays piano, flute, piccolo and guitar. She also sings and writes music. Hannah is going into eighth grade and plays in her school’s band. She plays the oboe and piano, takes STEM classes, is a Science Olympiad Member and president of the Beta Club. We have two dogs, Riley, a chocolate lab who is all mine, and Hudson who is a “bug” — a Boston Terrier/Pug mix. We also have two cats: a Calico named Mango and a Maine Coon named Tango.

Tell us a little bit about what you do each day.

Work with end users to help resolve any problems or issues they have and to gain as much knowledge from my colleagues to help me day-to-day.

What’s the most fun thing about your job and why?

In the IT world, every day there’s something different, never a dull moment. Each client has their own setup and there’s always a new challenge.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Working on the difficult tasks or tickets, figuring out something that I didn’t know before and being able to help my colleagues with anything I can.

What do you like to do for fun outside of work?

Spending time with all my girls, going to or watching Falcons, Braves or Atlanta United. When it’s football season I go to games at UWG and watch Rachel’s Marching Band at halftime. I enjoy taking the whole family and dogs to my father-in-law’s lake house up in South Carolina where we relax, boat and fish. The dogs love to go swimming in the lake. I also enjoy mowing the lawn on my Lawn Tractor and flying my GPS Drone in large open fields.
